A Fool for Fool

Another lovely memory of recent weeks was making shortbread cookies (or as they say here, biscuits). It’s a super-simple recipe of white flour, butter, and sugar, but the results are addictive. Of course, I chose stars over hearts for my shortbread shapes.

When you put them in the oven, you have to be super-vigilant…

Darina even brought out these examples of too pale, just right, and overcooked. If the biscuits get too brown, they taste bitter instead of buttery and sweet. The just right star is towards the middle left (the one on top of the two others.)

I served my shortbread biscuits with homemade black currant fool. Who can resist fruit and cream?

As you can see, I am a fool for fool.
